Minor modification – major milestone:
SIMOClearWeld Technology sets new standards in the installation of cable ducts
When it comes to laying conventional cable protection ducts, removing the inner beads created as part of the butt-welding process has always been a major challenge. The beads protrude into the pipe interior and have to be carefully and neatly removed as part of an additional processing step to ensure that the cables can subsequently be fed into the duct as smoothly as possible – a time-consuming task that comes with additional expense.
Recessed inner bead
With the introduction of SIMOClearWeld Technology, the removal of inner beads is a thing of the past. A major milestone in the history of pipe joining technology: in SIMOClearWeld, SIMONA has developed a heated-tool butt welder for construction site use in which the welding beads are recessed into the pipe wall, eliminating the need for time-consuming removal.
Precision and automation
Thanks to the high-precision recess machined on the pipe ends to be joined together, the welding beads are flush with the pipe walls and no longer protrude into the pipe interior.
SIMONA's innovative, patent-pending technology consists of two components: The SIMOClearWeld welding machine and the SIMOClearDuct cable ducts tailored to this application. The latter are manufactured with very low tolerances to ensure high-precision machining of the recess. The end-to-end welding process is CNC-controlled, with the welding machine providing the user with assistance throughout the procedure. Special welding parameters are used to optimise processing; they are documented as part of a fully automated process for each weld.
Faster, more efficient, more cost-effective
This innovation represents a quantum leap in efficiency for companies installing cable duct systems. With the help of SIMOClearWeld Technology, cable ducts can be joined automatically and at a comparatively higher speed with significantly greater precision. As a result, construction companies and welding crews tasked with installing cable protection routes can complete their contracts much faster, which translates into more accurate and cost-effective project planning.
Technical data:
When using SIMOClearWeld precision welding, the applicable tensile load resistance is reduced by just 9% thanks to the optimised contour of the recess. At the same time, the welding process is accelerated by up to 45% compared to conventional welding.
The SIMOClearWeld system is a perfect choice for open and trenchless installation using, for example, the HDD method. Over 300 kilometres of SIMONA ClearDuct pipes have already been laid, demonstrating the compelling benefits of this pipe connection technology.
